when you get to a quarter of a tank get some gas , record the gallons pumped , estimate what you think your mileage should be (15 MPH) multiply Gallons pumped by 15 , set your trip odometer to that number , if you get there with more than a quarter tank your doing better , if you hit that number close to empty then your getting 10 mph. Do this when you hit a quarter tank .
