Question type: General

I'm trying to see if I could switch my 2000 ford
explorer motor in my 2004 ford explorer.... (04 is a
4.0....)

If both engines are 4.0 SOHC engines, yes. The problem is you will probably have additional sensors on the 04 engine which are not present on the 00. You sill have to make accommodations. Then you will probably have to address the PCM issues. Then, down the road, if any engine work has to be performed, the mechanic will have to be informed the engine is a 2000 and not a 2004.
