All 4 Windows on My 2004 Explorer Will No Work

Replace driver control switch, it's a common problem on older vehicles.

Or change the fuse.

Likely a broken wire, most likely the black ground. Had same problem. Go to explorerforum for pics and instructions. Easy fix. Wire bundle is accessible by moving black rubber boot back that's seen when you open the door (connecting door to body). Took me 15 minutes. They get broken by repeatedly opening and closing door.

It's the switch, eleven years of up and down takes it's toll.

Highly unlikely both switches would go. And she reported power to switch. It's 11 years of the wire bundle bending with every opening and closing of the door. Been there...

Trust me, it's a ford, those switches fail quite often at that age. I've done a lot of them.

It's an explorer. It's the wires. Guaranteed.

Glad you fixed it. Now, when your AC/heat fan switch stops working too -- which is very, very likely on the explorer -- it's not the switch as you might think. It'll be the blower motor resistor. $20 and 10 min to fix. Guaranteed.

Well guys, thanks for all the suggestions but tried everything except for the for the blower motor resistor. Where is that located on a 2005 Ford explorer and are there fuses in the rear quarter panel trim? Can't find it.

Buzzy22 was spot on.....I want to thank him wherever and who he is. The hardest part was stripping the cover off the broken wires so they could be spliced back together with the appropriate wire connecter, solder, and cover it with some electrical tape. Just be careful not to make the wire any shorter, they are already too short.

Hi. I'm also experiencing issues with all 4 of my windows and the CD Player stopping, around the same time! I've had my switch on the driver's side replaced and also had the fuses checked. My neighbor wiggled the wires from the inside of the door opening (that are covered by the black "hose" and goes under the hood) and they worked very briefly. I NEED HELP, PLEASE!!!???

98% likelihood that you find a broken wire, and likely the black ground, if you really look closely at the wires going into, out of, and inside the black plastic hose in your door. Poke around for 5-10 minutes and you'll find one or two with wire broken but still barely held together by the plastic sheath. Carefully strip the sheath a few cm each end and rejoin with either heat shrink, or even a small wire nut. You'll be back in business. The CD is unrelated. They crap out all on their own--all of em do eventually.

It is definitely the black wire in the wire bundle going from the body to the drivers door. It takes a minute. Don't be in a hurry. Sharp razor to cut the protective cover. U will see the broken black wire. Look for the blue one with black. It was also broken. Also u have to take off the drivers side door panel which makes it easier. Very simple I watch it on u tube.

I have this problem also. If I open the door all the way it works but some times it wants to be difficult and I have to have the door open and it doesn't want to work so I have grab the black covering around the wires and lift up on it and I push the window button. Pain in the ass
