Rough idle

Asked by Singlemom03 Aug 10, 2018 at 01:43 AM about the 2003 Ford Explorer Limited V6 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have an 03 explorer 4.0 4x4 I just replaced the
water pump radiator new radiator hoses and
thermostat new egr pressure sensor and she is still
idling rough almost like she wants to die out when I
slow down or stop, I'm still getting a strong
exhaust odor inside my truck and the check engine
light is on I have done a tune up and pull change on
it and every once in a while white smoke will also
come out of the tail pipe and tonight it started
making like a whistling noise

excessive white smoke could indicate a problem with coolant entering the combustion chamber. Exhaust odor inside the vehicle indicates an exhaust leak problem, very dangerous. Two separate problems. Both probably beyond your ability to repair by yourself.
