have a shot 4,0L was needing to see if i part out the ford explorer who could
use the transmission

The transmission code should be listed on the driver's side door sticker, at the bottom, under the letters TR. The net will allow you to decipher the code to the tranny model. The new will also show which vehicles the tranny was used in.
