2005 Navigator - A/C Blowing Cool, Not Cold Air
Asked by Sean Jul 08, 2016 at 02:34 AM about the 2005 Lincoln Navigator Ultimate 4WD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I recently purchased a 2005 Navigator. It's in great shape and so far I
really like it. My only concern is that the A/C doesn't seem to be working as
well as I expected.
If I set the temp to 60 and put the system on Auto the fans will run for a
while on full blast (blowing cool air) then will drop down to about 25%, but it
of course is no where near 60 in the vehicle.
If I manually set the fans to max it blows cool air the whole time, but never
gets COLD. Our 2007 Outlook would freeze us out in 15min and I was
expecting something closer to that.
This is my first Lincoln. I don't know if the system needs charged, sensors
need replaced, or if that is just how it is in them.
Any suggestions/advice is greatly appreciated.

I have good airflow, it's just not cold. I'm hoping it's a simple A/C service issue.

Sounds like you have a bad A.C expansion valve or orifice tube filter both of them serve the same purpose but do not know which one your vehicle has. Refrigerant has to be removed to replace valve or tube.

Also would not rule out the the condenser coil needs to be cleaned out if dirt and bugs are restricting air flow across the fins of the condenser just use a garden hose and nozzle to clean.
I hosed out the coil, and verified that the refrigerant is full. My wife swears that it gets colder if you let it run for a while. We have an 8hr road trip in two days so I'll see if that is true.
I have. A navigator 04 wen i tray to put re charge.it i can only put one can it shows is full what can that be

If it’s full orifice tube clogged will show high pressure too
