AC charged but still not working
Asked by Pete_tenn Nov 22, 2015 at 11:00 AM about the 2003 Dodge Durango SLT RWD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I got this darango used and am trying to fixed the problems that were
neglected. THe AC does not work. THe compressor turns on when you
press the "snow flake" button. The first thing I thought was a leak and no
coolant, so I charged it through the low pressure port. It was a little low but
not empty and this did not help. Thought about just switching the
compressor but am unsure if that would help.

If compressor is not clicking on and off system is charged most likely the orifice tube filter is clogged this is a filter the is in the high side line of the A.C system. Freon has to be removed and a special tool needed to separate line.
Thanks... will check. Not sure if it is important but I think that the rear air is colder than the front. Is this possible?

That is a good question never had the privilege yet to work on a vehicle that front and rear A.C yet so do not know if it affects one when other is not working but I will be doing some research on it just in case that I will have to work on one some day.
The same thing happened to me. The AC pulley turns. But, it doesn't drive the AC compressor. That's because there is no power to the AC Clutch. The problem is a blown fuse at position #18 and/or bad relay at position #34. Both of these are in the Underhood Power Distribution Center. In my case the relay was just making bad contact.
AC,works in the back, but not in front,it use to be if you hit a bump ,the AC works, but just quit working a week ago, please help
Why does rear work front dont blow cold
Air only comes out of the rope of the dash. Why ?
