2001 Dodge Durango will not start and hold an idle with out keeping my foot on the gas
Anyone who can make sence of this and help me I would love the help...
In a nutshell It will not start right up. I have to keep myy foot on the gas the
second it strarts to come off the car shuts off. When it is runn (while my foot
is on the gas ) it runs ruff sometimes smooth but it depends on how I hold
my foot on the gas peddle.
The check engine light is not on any more. Eric frind got it to come on a
couple days ago.
Here's the hestory..
The day we picked up the Durango it drove like a dream all the way home.
NO problems.
The second day I had to replace the battery. The one it had was too small.
(how it even worked surprised the people at AutoZone).
After that it ran great! After a few days it ran great.
Then I had to get gas. As soon as I pulled into the spot I had to turn it on
and back up. It would not start back up untill a few trys. I just thought it was
a glitch. I drove it to a location 5 mins away and when I took my foot off the
gas it stopped in the driveway of the store. It took a bit then started up
again.
I had to park to go inside for about 15 mins. Came back and it took me 20
mins to get it to start. It died on me about 2 blocks away. I turned down a
side road in fear of it dying on the main road. As soon as I turned and had
to stop at a stop sign it stopped for good. THank goodness for Bob who
lived on the corner. he helped us pull it over and wait for the tow truck.
Erics dad checked to see if power was getting to the spark plugs and they
are getting power. Erics friend broght his tester to hook to the computer
and said the speed sensor was a problem. We replaced it. Still no help. I
had another friend come out and test it and it said the throttle position
sensor was not good. We replaced that... nothing...All of these codes came
up (P0500, We replaced that P0141, Still need to replace it, P0161 also
needs to be replaced. We where told that if we replaced the Throttle
Sensor it would fix the others. I am at my wits end I can't afford to keep
throwing money away.
