Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 2006 vw Jetta TDI, auto tranny. And was
driving it last night, something came out of
nowhere and I hit it and next thing I know the car is
still in sixth gear and won't go lower but I'm going
30 mph. After I came to a stop the car would do
nothing but rev and flash the prnds lights at me,
and the tow truck driver said it's leaking oil. Any
ideas as to what happen?

So even though it's leaking oil it's the tranny cracked? And yeah I'm working on getting it to a shop now, it's undrivable even if I wanted to drive it, when I go to start it and put it in gear it starts flashing the prnds lights at me and nothing else. Thank you for your help.
See the oil in the car in usually real dark but the fluid it's leaking is a real light brownish color, maybe redish that's why I was think it is the tranny's cracked.
Red is transmission, Brown is probably engine oil. Compare the oil color to what you see on the dipsticks. Either way don't drive it!
If your transmission fluid is brown that is also bad news.
Ok cool I'm get it to a shop and check all that out, thank you for your help
