The temperature gage on my 2004 Tahoe has gone completely to the right. It goes way past the 260 temperature mark and stays there. No other things have lit up on the control panel to say my car is overheating. Is this a malfunction?

If it isn't overheating I agree with tennisshoes but if it is overheating the thermostat has stuck.

Thank you for your responses...@tennishoes I'm not sure what that means. Is this something that needs to be fixed immediately? Can I still safely drive my car?

I have a 2003 Tahoe and most of my gauges have done the same thing. The stepper motors need to be replaced. Apparently there was a recall a few years ago, but I missed the window on that one, so I will be replacing them myself this week.
