03 Tahoe brake lights will not work!

Asked by TahoeBay Jun 21, 2022 at 11:35 AM about the 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe LS 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My cruise control works, the turn signals work, when i turn on my lights they all
light up but the brake lights will not light up. I have replaced the fuses and
tested the relay. I have replaced the brake switch, and checked all connections.
What am i missing?

Do you have power to the brake light switch? If not check fuses and wiring. When you push the brake pedal does power flow out the other side? If not then you have either a bad switch or it is misadjusted. If you do get power then you have a damaged brake light circuit down the line from the switch. Wiring diagram time.

Are all the brake lights out? If the high mount stop light is the only one working, I'd suspect the turn signal switch. The high mount stop light is wired directly to the brake light switch. But the other two are wired through the turn signal switch. Hope that helps! Jim

G A, yes i have power to the switch, and when the pedal pressed down i have power flow. I will look at the wiring harness as see what i come up with. Jim, i ordered a turn signal switch and it will arrive tomorrow, i did test the lights and the top is the only one that worked. I will update with the fix later. Thank you both for your assistants with this issue
