Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2003 Chevy Tahoe drives normal in 2nd gear only also 1st gear and reverse
work fine when put in drive won't go past 35 mph just revs up and won't drive
purchased a used tranmission at a wrecking yard for $705.00 swapped them
out and no difference still same problem won't drive in higher gears! How could
have i posibly got a used tranmission with the same issue as the original one?
Or is the problem not the tranmission? Any advice would be much appreciated

Sounds electronic, possible TCM, speed sensors, TPS, etc. Did you run a live data scan before or after the replacement transmission? Did the numbers match on the replacement transmission?

As Gene said the numbers on the old and replacement transmissions must match exactly! In my opinion it's highly unlikely both transmissions have the same problem. On a 22 year old vehicle it could be a number of things. Might be time to think about replacing the vehicle. In the end it'll probably be cheaper for you. Jim
