why would a new rotor crack?

Just had new rear brakes and rotors on a 2002 Tahoe and three days later the
left rear rotor cracked. Tons of noise at the time. I'd love to have some
education on how that may happen. Thanks

If it's new you may still have a manufacturer's warranty on the part. If a shop installed it they may also have some sort of warranty on the work.

Sometimes cheap Chinese parts fail. What brand were the rotors?
