2000 tahoe oil pressure

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 2000 tahoe, and whenever I hit the brakes
or start to slow down to stop, the oil pressure
drops to zero, and the check oil pressure light
comes on, and this continues until after I press on
the gas and start going again. otherwise whenever
I'm driving it seems to work just fine. Any idea what
this could be?

I have an 05 Yukon that was doing the same thing. It eventually lost all oil pressure and wouldn't start at all. Ended up being an oil pressure switch. Which I've now found out is a common problem for 2000- 2006 models.

Check the o-ring on the oil pickup tube. They go bad a lot. Simple fix. Also oil sending unit/pressure switch could be bad.
I would check the oil since you have good pressure going down the road. When stopping oil forced to front if your really low it can’t pick any up at that tine.
