2003 subaru outback oil light on

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 2003 Outback. Yesterday, the oil pressure light came on a few miles into my commute, and stayed on. Once I shut the car off, and let it cool, when restarted the light was out and stayed off the rest of the day, and all the way home. But the light came back on today about 10 miles into my daily trip. Same scenario, after parking for a bit, the light went off and stayed off. Any ideas ?

You could replaced the oil pressure sending unit to see if that solves the problem. I would also go ahead and change the oil and filter. If you have really high miles on the car the engine may be worn. What weight oil do you use?
Try 10W-40. Oil thins out when hot so it might be a combination of a worn engine and the oil you are using. A mechanic should also check your oil pressure with a mechanical gauge to make sure your oil pump or engine are not worn out.
