1997 Subaru Outback

Asked by Gus Jun 21, 2018 at 03:23 PM about the 2000 Subaru Outback Sport Wagon

Question type: Car Customization

I have a 1997 Subaru Outback not sure on the exact body
type or what model it but it holds the Impreza front end
and the rear end has the two separate lights with Subaru
brand in between them like the sport wagon does it has a
cracked block so I have to swap what Subaru engine can
I find that can be put in and fit the 5 speed trans that
doesn’t come turbo but can handle 8 psi later on? If I have
to change the wire harness that’s fine but what engine can
still run on the car now without turbo but can handle a
turbo being added to it ?

Do you really want to spend more than the car is worth to get it going again? Just buy a factory turbo car and save money and headaches not to mention endless problems with a jerry rigged turbo system.

It’s just something to learn on and piddle with I can’t find a engine from the exact car in my area so I’m just looking for the name of the engine that fits in the car and will work with is already in it factory just to see if I can even get it running it would be me buying a second hand engine I just don’t know what I’m looking for that would work is all
