Thud noise on rear

My 2005 Yukon SLE 4WD would make thud noise when car on reverse or drive on a cold start.  Once reach temp, thud noise is gone.  What would  cause that noise?  Rear axle differential?

i have that same noise also when it is a cold start and since winter has come the rear brakes sounds they are scrubbing when the car is cold but once it reaches temp i dont hear it anymore.

Not even the brake on my Yukon. Took car today to dealership and I was told my transmission is bad, tranny fluid leaked all over hoses. Quote from dealer is $6300 - new transmission, water pump, reservoir, all hoses & system flush.
