Car hesitation and stalling, could it just need a fuel tank cleaning?

Asked by GuruCBD2V Feb 15, 2019 at 03:14 PM about the 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer ES

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

my Car hesitated,  knocks,  and jumps..
whenever I do not have my foot on the
accelerator.  It often stalls out too. Been
trying to fix for years and no one can seem to
find the prob.  Someone mentioned that I
should try fuel injector fluid.

You have tac, throttle actuator control/drive by wire throttle. Check for any applicable trouble codes related to that system. I don't know if cleaning throttle bore would help? Don't force the throttle plate.

If your fuel filter keeps getting clogged you should have the tank cleaned. No other reason to clean the tank. Your car may need a tuneup.
