Question type: General
I just purchased this vehicle on 5/08/12 and noticed it wasn't a V6 but instead a V8. Now with that being said, would this vehicle function properly with regular gas instead of premium gas? gas prices today are insane. please advise

The owners manuals states that it needs fuel with at least a 91 octane rating. If you run a lower octane there is the possibility of reduced performance as well as the increased chance of engine knock.

Congrats on your purchase, I know you'll love your v8 over the v6 and this car will not be pushed around. I also have the 3.9 v8 and use 87 octane, but every 3rd /4th fill up with 91/93 octane. You will get better gas mileage with 91 octane or higher but running 87 octane will not hurt your engine, you may hear your vales rattle more becauce 87 octane does not burn as clean. Again congrats.
ive put regular in my v8 an i have heard no nosie an i still have plenty of power so it really doesnt matter what gas u put in
I have owned 4 different Lincoln lsv8 and I have learned if u put regular in it that it will sl lowly burn your coils and plugs out and it cost me $800 evetytime. It happened 3 times until i figured it out. Oh yeah, the dealership told me also.

I bought one and put regular in it. Not sure octane levels on premium. Can i put premuim in it to clean it out like i did with my old truck?
