2001 hyundai santa fe won't crank

Asked by garonimo Oct 26, 2012 at 11:38 PM about the 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe 2.7L GL AWD

Question type: General

battery died on the suv, tried juymping, charged battery, will not turn over- headlights will not turn on- interior lights work, brake lights good, radio won't turn on. It seems like it is in lock-out. Fob unlocks doors so I think it is okay. any suggestions?

car should still crank with a full charge or jumping it off, it won't even turn over, and no head lights. Thanks for responding.

Check the bigger fuses located in the engine compartment fuse box, sounds like a blown fuse in the start/run system. I am unaware of any "lock-out" on any vehicle.

try replacing battery and alternator. Also check for spark. however, it really sounds like a short somewhere. Remember, the things that you replace (BATTERY or WHATEVER), you can purchase bad parts once in a while... Do you have a OBDII reader? if problem persists change starter, but, before that check for spark
