it might be a tremec 4 or 5 speed automatic transmission

Have 2001 for mustang 3.8 v6 auto. Reverse works fine, d/1/2 engages slips unless I reveve motor up. York converter makes a rumble type sound when stared up. Not sure if selinoied bad or bad York converter or just bad trans. What would be best option with this trans? Has 177000 miles. Let me know what's best. Thanks.
