If you for the drums off and the don't have a lip on the outer edge"hatted" then they should go right back on with the adjuster all the way in the the shoes seated correctly... make sure they are seated. Both ends the top and the bottom

Depending on if you put new shoes on or using the old ones.. and how much of a lip you may need to grind some of the lip off to slip it on. If you have a wire brush or wire wheel try removing some of the rust on the lip. Other wise cutting the drums or replacing them will solve you issue. But make sure the shoes are seated if they are not the drum will not go on even if you cut or get new one

Just a thought ,is the emergency brake on or maybe the cable is hanging up . Also if the shoes aren't tight to the pin or the bottom of the shoes situated correctly the drum won't go on. When you bought the shoes did you measure the drums I thjnk there are 2 different diameters drums should always be turned when installing new shoes . Good luck
