Knocking motor in 2007 Dodge Ram 1500

What could cause a knocking noise in my motor?
Help please

Thank you very much. I forget to mention When you drive it hardly has any power and still knocks. Replace oil sensor and I think he is going to try to replace the oil pump. if you have any more recommendations I would love to hear them. Again thank you very much

Agree with "tennisshoes". Engine knocks from deep within usually require engine teardown or replacement. The damage is likely already done. A ticking noise is usually less severe and an oil pump may solve that. The best thing to do is measure the actual oil pressure with a mechanical gauge attached to where the oil pressure sender goes. If oil pressure is good and it still knocks that's bad.
