2007 Dodge ram 1500 5.7 engine

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I just got this truck and brought it to my mechanic for a once over. When he entered the info into the computer he told me that there were two different engine classifications for the 07 5.7. Was there a problem with the engines on the 07 model that required a change? Is one better than the other? Or is this a meaningless distinction that I shouldn't worry about?
thanks

a 2007 hemi doesnt have MDS. a 2007.5 Hemi has MDS, same engine, with some different parts.
thanks Dan, how do I find out which one I have?
MDS started on the 2006 model actually, the engine code in the vin for mds engine is 2 and the non-mds is D
i figured it started in 07.5 only because my mother has a durango with the hemi, production date was first half of 07 and she doesnt have MDS
That can be, i dont know about the durangos, btw the engine code is the 8th caracter of the VIN
