Okay. My gear shift was stuck...easy fix, replace brake light switch. Everything
was fine for 2 days, them my brake lights stopped working, less than 10 hours
after they stopped working, my gear shift was sticking again. hmm i thought,
faulty new brake lite switch? replaced again. Gear shift working, no brake
lights. All fuses i know to check are fine. any ideas?

Hear that, but that's were I'd start again. If you can get your full money back buy OEM.
Best to get the oem first then go back with your receipts and show them you bought one elsewhere. There is something inherent in that switches design that makes them prone to failure, sometimes right out of the box. We used to sell/ return alot of them
thank you guys for helping out. Is there a way i can test the switch before taking the time to return and get another?
so i changed up manufactures.. my 4th switch also did not get the brakes working. I thought there has to be something else wrong. I put in my original bad switch that was keeping me from shifting. My brake lights worked! Frick! 4 bad switches from 2 different manufacturers! instead of wasting time taking it back, i took it apart. It took me some time figuring out the contacts, but i did it, re-bent them in an orientation that opened and closed proper contacts with mimimal trigger movement, hooked it up, and i now have working lights and shifter. What a mess. only took 4 trips to the parts store and hours of agrivation.
At least you got it fingered out! Mass production and a constant flow of new people who rarely care working in factories thanks to the widespread use of "employment agencies" are to thank for the state of quality and lack of quality control in almost everything these days. Sad but true
