Why does the front driver door sound ajar when driving/turning at slow speed over gravel?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When driving and turning right over gravel at slow speeds, there is a hollow sound-like the driver front door is ajar.  I have had the truck in for service and there is a "bulletine" out for body/frame spacers.  This has not helped and don't know if it was designed to help this issue.

You might ask the dealership to check if the proper insulation and weatherstripping are present. Problems like these are hard to diagnose & repair for dealer techs, so be patient with them as they help you figure out how to solve the problem. Another option would be to wait a few months and contact them again -- often with the newer vehicles the engineers need time to find a fix for problems that are occurring. We had a large number of 2007 Dodge Caravans with a squeak/creak noise. People came into the dealership describing the exact same way -- "it squeaks/creaks!" It was not until August of this year that the engineers found the problem -- a mounting tab on a bolt inside the front frame rail could be improperly touching the frame rail and causing the sound. An official bulletin was then released by Chrysler and we fixed them. :)
