Open the trunk and up under the package tray where rear speakers mount,on the passenger side you will see the module. It will be black and have 3 connectors to it.It will have a sticker on it with a 5 digit code. That is the factory default code on the module. It will also have a sticker on one of the trunk hinges with this code if someone has not removed it.Here is how the system works: Keyless Entry Keypad To unlock the driver front door (20124), and disarm the anti-theft alarm control (19A366) (if equipped): Enter the permanent factory code. Enter the owner's alternate code. To unlock the passenger door(s), press the 3/4 button within five seconds of unlocking the driver front door or luggage compartment door (40110) . To unlock the luggage compartment door, press the 5/6 button within five seconds of unlocking the driver or passenger door(s). To turn on the interior lamps (13776) and light all illuminated components, lift either front door handle (22404) and press any button on the keyless entry keypad (14A626) . To lock all doors, press the 7/8 and 9/0 buttons at the same time. (It is not necessary to enter the key code first.) This will turn off courtesy lamps. To program a temporary code: Enter permanent code. Within five seconds of pressing last button of permanent code, press 1/2 button. Enter any alternate five-digit code within five seconds of pressing 1/2 button.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOmE8a5GOHs ...and a video made by Ford Motor company: www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOmE8a5GOHs .....explains anything I missed and how to put your own code, that you pick yourself, Remember 1-2 and 3--4 buttons are the same. in other words if your code has a "1" pushing "2" will work, "3" and "4" are the same, and so on, there are 5 buttons but 10 numbers 0 to 9
Programming your own personal entry code 1. Enter the factory-set code 2. Press the 1/2 button within five seconds of step 1. 3. Enter your personal 5-digit code. Enter each digit within five seconds of the previous one. Your personal code does not replace the factory-set code. You can use either code to unlock your vehicle. Each time you set a new personal code the module will erase the previous one in favor of the new code. The factory-set code can not be erased. On my 1990 Lincoln TC the first 4 numbers would unlock the driver's door, then the 5th digit unlocked the other3 doors.. A 6th digit can be added to open trunk, if they still make them that way..don't know but will try to find out. This car was a 1990, I have not had the car for 18 months now and just don't remember how. Yet.
If you can't find the default factory code, there is another possible way. The entry code unit(black box) is mounted behind the fuse panel under the drivers side dash. you will need a mirror or camera to view the code which is mirror imaged (when looking from under the dash) its the 4 digit code , after which you can reprogram the code you wish to have. Good Luck
http://www.fordtaurus.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=14316 ... a post on that forum: "just found mine for my 08 Taurus last week. It was on the smart junction box located under the driver's side dash" end quote. So with all this you gotta be able to find it. I got interested and spent way too much time ..but oh well..Best of luck Lag
