GVWR for F250 Super-duty Turbo Diesel 6.7L w 8' bed
Asked by JiminSoCal Nov 13, 2013 at 03:13 PM about the 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty XL Super Cab 4WD
Question type: General
My door sticker for my Truck says the GVWR is only 10,000lbs, yet the truck scale with the truck empty says the truck weighs 8,150, leaving only 1,850 for payload, Can this be right? If so, that would eliminate most truck camper capabilites as a truck camper weighs at least 2,000+. Am I reading this right?

the tongue weight DOES vary~ quite certain the Engineers are aware of that fact~
For in bed camper your correct but you can use a trailer for tongue weight

The 10k rating is for car registration purposes. You can carry more but in the unlikely chance that the highway patrol decided to weigh your truck while you were carrying a load you would be fined for overload.
