Automatic Climate Control 2008 Grand Marquis
Asked by LAnBfflo Sep 16, 2013 at 01:39 PM about the 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis LS
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
My 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis does not blow air. You can adjust the temperature, and
you will feel cold air (or warm air) but the fan doesn't work. My mechanic is saying we
need a whole new in-dash unit, ($600 dealer part) but I'm wondering and hoping if it's only
the blower control module ($30)
Any opinions?

It's easy to condemn the electronics when you don't understand the electronics. Did he test the Blower Motor or Resistor Block to see if they actually work? That's usually the failure.
I'm not sure what he tested...I'm "just" a female, so I don't think he actually listens to what I'm saying beyond "the heater isn't" Thanks. I'm going to call my other mechanic tomorrow.
Don't let them treat you like a dummy. If they don't show you courtesy and respect in the drive way, they won't have any consideration for your car or your wallet either. Ask questions. Also, get any and all work and diagnostic results in writing. I hope you didn't have to pay for the first guy's guess.
