No Start....HELP!!!

My 08 Avenger R/T lost engine power while driving. Mechanic got code
P0340 camshaft position sensor. replaced camshaft sensor, crankshaft
sensor, gas pedal, throttle body, spark plugs....car still will not start.
Mechanic said that he is sure my computer is good, because he is getting
readings back on everything except the camshaft. The latest suggestion is to
replace the entire wiring unit because he thinks its dryrotted.. Before I spend
$300 on the wiring set, can i get a second opinion on possible issues? Has
this happpened to anyone else?
