If you mean the M3 then I think it was in the mid 4 second range. No idea on the regular 3 series ones aside from it'd range from sub 6 seconds to under 7. I do hear though that the 135i (coupe) does 0-60 in 4.6 and not bmw's number of 5.1, all depends on if you trust motor trend or not I guess.

2001-2007 M3s make 0-60 in 5 sec flat and top speed of 155mph 2008 makes 0-60 in 4.2sec and top speed bout 170 but it can go mor wit performance tires........

Some small corrections....I´m from Germany and I think this is where the car is built ;) My buddy has it aswell. 0-60 is 5.1, in a convertible 5.5 no matter if shift or automatic and it has 346 hps. The topspeed is 156 but its electronically regulated, governed however you would say. Goes 175 without regulation on the Autobahn, and it does, trust me )) There is a special edition called CSL, weightreduced and 360 hps, will make the 0-60 in 4,8...can basically keep up with the new E92 M3 on the racetrack! The new E92 M3 has 420 hp is a V8 and BMW sais 4.6- 4.8 depending on wether its shift or auto but magazines generally go towards the 4.8, don`t want to be a wiseguy but 4.2 is too fast. The thing about the M is, thats its a german engeneered sportscar build for the track more or less, there are some american cars with similar specs and a better acceleration but they wont stand a chance on the track ;) Greetings from Germany ))

The M is def right. Though, we do get different engine tunes so sometimes performance figures are different between the U.S. and Euro specs. But yeah definitely German cars aren't usually set up for off the line acceleration, rather the real punch comes in later at highway passing speeds and beyond.

I just red about it after writing my coment. You are right, I gues the gear transmission in the us versions in a bit shorter and therefore slight aceleration advantages...but consequently lower top speed, which could probably just be reached on a highway in Nevada :) But watch out for those helicopters !! So now Amanda has all the information about the new M3s in Europe and in America, lets hope that there havent been additional changes in Asia f.e. otherwise it will get really confusing ))

The M3 is equipped with a 3.2L 6-cylinder engine that produces 333 horsepower at 7900 rpm. For 2004, aluminum interior trim returns. The optional Sequential Manual Gearbox (SMG), includes Parking Distance Control (PDC), which is also available as stand alone option. Nappa leather sport bucket seats are standard on convertible models, while power lumbar support seats and a removable hardtop roof are available as options The M3 GTR is much faster the the Standard M3 with the CLS 470hp, 186mph top speed ( 300 Km/h)
