2008 Ford Escape

Has the Ford Escape frame changed from a 2001-
2004 escape to a 2008 escape? Because I have a
hitch I need to put on but it says it’s only for a 2001-
2004 escape. I want to know if I could make the
hitch work on my 2008 escape.

Person that sold it to me said it was for the wrong years. I will be returning it to them however so no big deal I guess. Thank you for your help though.
