Lost all power while at a stop

Asked by MrMrs53 Dec 16, 2018 at 11:07 PM about the 2008 Ford Taurus X SEL AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

All the days lights came on a my Taurus died
while idleling. After of about 5min I was able
to start the car and press on. What could
possibly have caused it to do that? It has
102000 miles, maintenance is done always
on schedule.

Would scan for pending codes. Could be one of many things such as an issue with the charging system, throttle position sensor, vacuum leak, etc. Some of the Fords have had issues with a shutdown type of problems concerning the transmission speed sensors but the ones I've heard of the vehicle were in motion. Have the battery load tested and alternator voltage checked so at least you can rule that out. Good Luck!
