Is it the service engine soon light or the check engine light? If you have a code it should be a check engine light. The service engine soon light is a maintenance reminder light and it should have been reset during the last oil change. A large evap leak is in the fuel vapor system, could be a fuel cap, split vapor line, purge solenoid stuck open. A smoke test might need to be performed to find the leak if it is not easily visible.

It needs reset, that information is in the owners manual. If you don’t have the manual the search maintenance light reset for your year make and model of vehicle and it will show you how to reset it. It should run fine with an evap leak but it won’t pass inspection if you live where it is done.
