I just had a new serpentine belt put on my 2008 Nissan Altima. It only has 56,000 miles on it. Is that too early for a belt to go?

Not really. As a comparison on my 2006 Toyota I put one one my car at 61,000 when it began to show signs of age. Who knows? It may have gone another 20,000 or more but I didn't want to take any chances

the serpentine belt is a modern improvement over the practice of using three or four fan belts to drive engine accessories- 1 belt does the job- this means it works very hard to drive EVERYTHING and will degrade faster than regular V-belts- if it goes, EVERYTHING stops working and the car will be stuck- usually in the middle of nowhere- so spending the price of a belt to be on the safe side is a GOOD idea

Been there, done that with the serpentine belt going. That's why I had the new one put on. I was just questioning that it would start to go at just 56K, as opposed to 10 or 20K later.

no it not to early to replace the belt its better to be safe than sorry
