Pontiac g5

Asked by Guru568BV Feb 04, 2018 at 04:08 PM about the 2008 Pontiac G5 Base

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Sometimes when I’m going 35-45 mph my rpms
flutter between 1500 and 2000. No lights are on so
there’s no code. Any idea what it could be?

What's the battery voltage ?? what's the alternator putting out when the engine running ?? It should be about 14 1/2 volts Sounds like a low voltage issue to me What's the fuel pressure ??

Olds403: I don’t know. I just got the car the other day, the only gauges it has are speedometer, trachometor and the gas gauge.

You could buy a cheap multi-tester for less than 10 bucks and their really use full not only for DC voltage but for AC current plus reading Ohm's also

If it is an automatic trans, it may be dropping into a lower gear. Do you notice it more on uphill grades or under an abnormal load? 500 RPM's is a large jump but your trans might be getting a signal to change gears to keep up your speed in that range.

It’s usually up hill or right as I come off a hill. Checked trans fluid and that was fine. Put plugs in it just to see if it would help, figured it couldn’t hurt. That didn’t do anything. Mechanic said that’s just how some of these models do
