what's causing my 2008 Ford Explorer to not crank after fuel fill up?

Asked by Allison Jul 02, 2015 at 05:15 PM about the 2008 Ford Explorer Limited V8 4WD

Question type: General

Over the past couple weeks every time I've put gas in my Explorer, when I crank it, it acts like it is going to stall out. So I decided to fill it up. When I filled it up, it did the same thing except it went dead. And now it will not crank at all.

Same thing happened with my 2010 V8 F 150. Turned out to be the evap system. EVAP solenoid. Like to many people I use to force fill the tank after the first click to top it off. Not a good thing. Raw gas is pushed into the vapor recirculation tube which goes into the charcoal canister. Fortunately it was only the solenoid which was destroyed. See if there is a cold being thrown, it may not show up as a light on the dash.
