Battery Change

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello and...I need help !!!!! I have a Jeep Compass Limited Edition 2.4, 4 WD , which wears a battery 62A, 540A (EN). A few days ago I could not unlock the automatic unlocking and the alarm with the key's button . So I unlocked with the key itself but everything was dead , there was no voltage at all . I got voltage via a friend’s car and for 3 days now , everything works perfectly. Questions: (1) I need to change battery? Or what measurement should I do before I make a decision ? (2) On top of the battery there is an "eye", which shows inside  green. What does it mean? (3) If a new battery is transferred to my place from another area , the transportation might damage it ? Although it’s a CLOSED TYPE battery ? (4) I have to disconnect  the old battery and install the new one , or need some extra procedure for the new one ? And finally (5) Almost all batteries have dimensions M: 242 W: 175 H: 190. My measurement start (M: 235 W: 170 H: 195), but likely to lose, or to add some millimeters because it does not fit the meter. I suppose that dimensions are standard and will not be a  problem . Is that correct ? Thanks for any assistance .

1) The battery seems good now. You probably left something on. 2) The Green Light on the battery indicates that the battery has a good charge. (3 As long as the battery is transported so it didn't tip over no problem if its filled with acid. If it's dry just don't drop it from high places. 4) Check with Chrysler about that. You'll probably need your radio code at minimum. 6) Always use the proper batty group number.

Thank you very much for your answer , which is really helpful . There is no a "Green Light" on top , but a "glass eye" through which you may see green color of something , maybe liquid , but it’s not lighting .

Are you in the US and near a Advanced Auto Parts Store or AutoZone? They can test the battery while it's in the car.
