2008 camry 4 cylinder. was getting 25 or 26 around town and then suddenly I am getting 20 mpg, Car works smoothly and plenty of performance - no change in acceleration. Any thoughts?

Oil change? Tune-up? example; air filter, spark plugs, coil packs, clean fuel injectors, change oil and filter.
If you live in the land of ice and snow then it's just due to winter. Vehicles always get poorer mileage during the winter months.
