Smells like it is overheating

Asked by Dove2252 Aug 31, 2016 at 08:23 PM about the 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser Touring Wagon FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2008 PT Cruiser and it smells like it is overheating but the needle would only go to the halfway mark. My windows fog up and turning on the defrost does not help. Tonight I noticed when I parked my car and left it running to get my mail, the needle was moving up past the halfway mark. Could it just be the thermostat or as the guy at Walmart said, a heater core?
