I have a 2008 chrysler T&C LX where is the sensor/switch to tell the vehicle the back gate is closed/open. I have a constant warning of gate open and inside lights stay on.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I walked out one morning and my inside lights were on, on the dash it says gate. So I am guessing that means the back gate is open. I have slammed it shut several times with no luck, looked all over the trimand seal area looking for a switch or sensor of some sort. I am starting to guess that it is some sort of mercury type switch in the door area trim?

The first thing I looked for was a push button switch around the door with it open. No switches anywhere. I'm kind of leaning towards some type of mercury switch inside the trim some where. Sometimes if I turn on the back wiper it goes away but comes back on. Thank you

I've also had the same exact problem on my 2008 Chrysler Town & Country. Chrysler needs to do a recall and pay for these repairs!

Mine is doing the same thing now too! I'm afraid my battery is going to die while I am at work. The inside light won't go off.

I have the same problem...you can always turn your dimmer switch all the way down and just drive it like that.
