2008 cobalt 2.2L ecotec engine swapping

My daughter spun a valve in her 2008 Cobalt. I found
another 2.2L engine from a 2008 Malibu. Will it work or
must I use another engine from a 2008 cobalt?

Check the eighth character of both vehicles' VINs. That's the engine code. If they're the same, it should work. Hope that helps! Jim
