On 2005 equinox it is hidden down at bottom of tranny. Looking from front it is to the right of the starter. Yellow dipstick with hold-down bolt. Hard to get at.

Should I check it when it is hot or check it when it is cold levels. I did change it when it was cold .it didn't even reach the cold mark. so I added to go to the cold mark. Did I do this right

Hopefully when you refer to hot you do mean to say "operating temperature". Actually you did follow the proper procedure. same as some older vehicles that use power steering fluid, the dip stick has a mark for cold also. good luck

Thanks, no wonder I couldn’t find the stupid thing. It is shifting a little funny and sometimes stalling. I went nuts looking for it the other day. Calling the garage and letting a pro mess with it. I hate my Equinox and can’t wait until I can trade it in. Nothing but trouble.

My mother has a 2005 Chevy equinox and was told it’s sealed off. So do you have to go to a garage and have a professional just to put transmission fluid in? I’m looking online and see it has to be up on 4 way jack and the car has to be level. The car is nothing but trouble every thing seems to go wrong with it. Trying to figure out to get rid of it and get something better but says it’s running weird and we need to figure out how to get some tranny fluid in it. Not sure which way to go. If I’m better off taking to pride or something that a person could do on their own possibly?...

It's a Royal pain in the butt sell the car. But if you're in for a challenge stand in front of the car look for the exhaust pipe that comes off the manifold from the front of the car towards the back look straight down and you should see a little yellow knob there's a bolt that holds it in when he get the bolt out the could pull the dipstick and check the oil in the transmission
