Coolant leak

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I got a leak somewhere but pressurized test
found nothing. Last May my radiator fan
broke off and went into radiator. Replaced
that fan, radiator, thermostat, and front and
rear hoses. All was good for about 6
months. Started losing a little coolant but
didn't see no leaks. Finally in Feb I seen the
leak. It's on the passenger side of engine
near tire almost equal to tire position. Tricky
part- it only leaks sometimes. On the way to
work, I lose almost all the water in the
reservoir, on the way home I lose none.
Some days I don't lose water at all,
sometime I lose water every trip. And
sometimes I lose alot of water, sometimes
just half an inch. My car overheats
occasionally in stop and go traffic and by
overheat I mean it goes up to 225 (the first
line after the middle line where it normally
sits) but it always brings it's own temp back
down to normal. The times it overheats I've
noticed I lose the most water. Car has about
140k miles. I'ma single mom and broke so
don't want to replace anything that doesn't
truly need to be replaced. Please help! I got
a video and a couple pictures if that helps.
Oh and no water in passenger floor board.
Thank you for your time.

I Had the same problem. I noticed that when I turned the car off that's when I lose the most coolant. turned out to be a hose located near where the coolant bleed screw. I think its called a coolant bypass hose. You can tell if it's leaking when you turn the car off and look under the hood. The pressure will cause the hose to spray. I had and small hole the size of a pin that caused a puddle of coolant in my garage. I hope that helps.

Thank You! Ill definitely check it out. It went almost 2 weeks of not leaking. And then it leaked again over the weekend. Today no leaks. Is that how it was with you as Well?

Update in case anyone has a similar problem. Two days ago I went to add water and it immediately started coming out from the bottom. Got it to the shop and found out it was my water pump. Got my car back yesterday so while I'm still paranoid I'm going to lose water, I haven't. After months of driving like this, I'll probably check my water daily still. Will let you know if there's another issue.
