Is your remote key fob a factory one? Should be black and have five buttons. One top center with a circle with an arrow on it. 2 side by side below the circle with lock and unlock. 1 below the locks for the trunk and 1 below the trunk for the alarm.

Ok pop it open. Take out the green mother board. Clean the copper contacts (opposite side of battery) with a pencil eraser. Put it back together. Try it. If that doesn't work you will have to replace the fob. Its a problem I've seen a lot with that style of GM fobs.

So neither lock button works when pressed, but it will lock and unlock the doors when you pull it out of park and put it back into park? Am I correct in saying that?

I would say get your remote fob replaced and see if that works the locks as well. If it doesn't then it sounds like the lock switches are both bad.
