...yes well they did not tend to the chassis ground....you must tend to the chassis ground....The black cable ends at a spot that connects to the ground there...this one corrodes up through repeated high amperage starts...what you must do is un-bolt this lug and wirebrush it shiny by holding onto it with a pliers....wirebrush the spot that connects there...bolt them together for renewed ground potential~ your vehicle speed sensor and display will come back to normal~
I have the exact same problem. Did this work for you? Also. I disconnected the battery. But can't find the chassis ground. I seems to be under the battery stand and I cannot follow the wire to the chassis. Any help?

Hey did any of you figure it out? I also have a 2008 Jeep Liberty with the same issue! Let me know. Thanks!

Hi can we do this at home? Will it go if i clean the cable connecting joint to chasis ground?
On my 99 Cherokee the chassis ground wire/cable was connected to the wheel well above the right side front tire. Numerous electrical and electronic issues (such s error code from assorted sensors, battery voltage indicator moving around, sometimes battery drained.....) were all resolved when I discovered that the bolt holding the cable to the wheel well was wobbly in a rusted out hole. (The Jeep had been driven for years on winter salted roads.) I moved the bolt-to-chassis connection to a bolt in/on the metal bar over the radiator.. Volia.!!
