Question type: General

I was sitting in my 2008 Malibu today with the engine off and the keys out of the ignition when suddenly the heater turned on. I started the car and then shut it off again and the blower stopped.

I guess it's hard to say if the blower was all that came on because the radio and lights stay on until you open the drivers door ,,but if it happens again ,,, open the drivers door to see if it goes off ... I suspect you may have a "sticky" tumbler on your ignition sw that made contact with the Accessory circuit ... if u can't duplicate it and have someone check it ,, they no doubt will spray some WD 40 into the key slot and charge you $50 ..Non recurring problems can be the source of "mechanic induced problems" while they pursue the elusive problem

Temperature sensor sensed really hot antifreeze and started blower to cool core and probably started engine fan also. Both will run with key off. Have noticed this on other model cars before and assume it may have happened on yours.
