Front windows and sunroof opening.

Asked by MKXMAD Feb 23, 2010 at 05:51 PM about the 2008 Lincoln MKX FWD

Question type: General

My wife has had her 2008 MKX 8 months. It's got 20,000 miles and it's front wheel drive with a
sunroof. Our problem, I have gone out three times in the last two months to find the front windows
down and the sunroof popped up (not slid back, just up). Any idea what could cause this. Could it be
my neighbor's garage door opener, she just had a new door put on.

that happened to me.. go to the car close the windows and the sunroof. then lock the doors. now stand back and be amazed.. now hold down the unlock button for about 8 seconds. Walaaaa your windows just opened.. Now take your finger off the button and push your jaw back up. now hold the unlock button down again for about 8 seconds and Wallaaaaaa the sunroof cracks.. Are you amoazed?? You/or your wife must had had the keys in your pockets and bent over or leaned and accidentally hit the unlock button for a few seconds. dont feel bad..i was stumped too . email me at dvdfreake@aol.com so i know you got this message.

OH my goodness I love you! I was driving the used Lincoln MKS that I bought two days ago, and the rear passenger window went down on it's own and would not go back up. I tried the window switch from the front and back and it wouldn't go up. I was so upset that I got a lemon or something. Then I read your post. I went out and tried holding down the one button and the windows all came down. Then I did the other one and as you said, walla, the windows all went up - including the one that was stuck. Thank you you're my hero!!!

I've been researching this for days. The most common answer is that people must be operating the global open/close feature accidentally. Yes, the global open/global close feature works; however, hundreds (if not thousands) of people are posting this question. I KNOW my windows and hatch have opened without my pushing any buttons on my remote. I suspect Ford has a problem and won't admit it.

You are all amazing. Thank you. I thought I was crazy. I locked my 2011 MKZ yesterday and later found my windows were wide open. We had sleet and snow and needless to say there was a mess in my car. This was not the first time either. My husband has a fob for my car and keeps it in his pocket....kept telling him it was his fault! ;)

Our 2014 Lincoln MKS appears to be haunted. When we shut the engine off, the windows come down. It can be any combination of windows 1, 2, 3, or all 4. Sometimes this malfunction is delayed and does not occur until after we walk away. Been to the dealer twice and they claim they can find nothing wrong. Wha's wrong?

Just read your post! Problem solved! I just find this really freaky that it did it on its own! This problem would not be good to happen very frequently in my neighborhood! Thanks again!

I am at the dealer now my 2013 Hyundai Sonata limited hybrid has a panoramic sunroof that opens automatically while driving. Last January the same thing happened and they changed out the module saying that the wires were very close together and that seemed to correct the issue now it is doing the same things a year later.

My doors will unlock by themselves and all my windows go down when I turn my car off. Why?

Happened to me today, but the battery seems dead, will not start. The key has been in my pocket at home all day. I called a dealer and told them I will have AAA drop it by for a checking. They didn't say a thing about knowing of the issue. Worries me, what should I do?

Don't know what global unlock is but my 2010 mkz has been found with random single windows or multiple down at any given time. I found this site, tried pushing the unlock for 5 seconds and Windows came down. Will NOT leave keys in pockets! T Y very much...I too thought I was nuts!

Everyone is holding the unlock button too long. More than 3 sec will roll down front windows and open sunroof.

How do I disable the roll down/sunroof feature? I rained last night and came out this morning to a totally soaked interior. I DO NOT like this feature.

I thought that I was crazy. I came across this blog at approximately 315am and I was at work. I did press down in the unlock on my key fob and the front windows and the sunroof came open. I thought that I was having an electrical problem and it would had to be placed in the shop for thousand of dollarsfor electrical problems

I just woke up to find the front two windows completely down and my sunroof cracked open on my used 2014 Lincoln MKX. Both my husband's and my key fob stay in the same place at all times when we're not driving, so it definitely couldn't have been us accidentally pushing a button or leaving it in our pockets. The key fobs always stay in the kitchen by our work things. So how can this happen with no possibility of even using the key fob? Of course it rained last night too... Winter is on its way and I do not want this to happen when it snows!

Who is the moron that designed the remote so that the buttons could be so easily tripped when in my pocket! The global opening of the windows is the worst part. If it is raining or snowing, it is on both front seats! What idiots thought that this was a good idea!

went ojutside this morning to find my 2 front windows down and my sunroof popped open. after reading this article idk what to think. my situation is different in the fact that my IKT (integrated key transmitter) has been messed up since i got the car just a month ago. the fob part of the key doesnt even work i havent been able to press the unlock or lock since i got the car. so there is no way it happened because of the key has anyone found a better answer?
