5.7 Hemi runs HOT!?!?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
My 2008 Daytona seems to run as it should - guages read dead center for temperature, but man, it seems like the hood is
always boiling hot! Anyone know if the emgine needs to be that warm all the time, or should I be looking for extractor
vents?

This sounds all too familiar, my chrysler 300 does the EXACT same thing. All my guages are dead centered but when I turn my car off I can actually hear it boiing under the hood. I've put in a new radiator and STILL the same problem. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT THIS MIGHT BE??????
Dead center on a mopar gauge used to be 200-210 degrees . But that was many years ago .
check your cooling system pressure with a cooling system pressure pump . If the system will not maintain the specified pressure the water and coolant will boil at 212 deg or slightly above . PS- new cars run hotter to reduce emmissions and improve fuel economy .... PBN
if the engines too hot it will set a DTC and the ECM will limit engine power until the temperature gets back into check. that engine should run between 190-210 degrees, its expected that the hood will get very hot. the 5.9 cummins in my ram 3500 only runs at 190 and my hood gets rediculously hot as well. if your really worried you should install a set of analog gauges as a way to more accurately check your engines vitals

Hot Hood is normal, tight engine compartments and the increased running temperatures for emissions. Boiling sound is just the system equalizing pressure between the two sides of the thermostat. 212 is boiling but when you increase pressure, hence your cap which holds pressure, you increase boiling point. If its not broke, don't fix it.
they don't insulate hoods with pads anymore either !!
I have had a new water pump and a themosta put on and car is still running hot what is next
did you get a fixed yet im having the same problem after a new thermo got put in
Yes here in Rome only cost $130 radiator and change thermostathe flush them out car is running great
ill try bleeding air out and add more coolant and see from there
Have 2007 dodge charger.5.7 hemi..chance. The water pump. .thermostat. .still. .worn the..water.. any ideas..... what it is..?
I changed the thermostat and water pump on a 2008 Dodge Charger SRT8 and I had to release pressure out of the coolant system through a 3/8" plug on the water pump. My temperature almost pegged the red line before I did this. After releasing the pressure my car runs at normal operating temperature.
pay attention to your engine. even if gauge reads normal there has been alot of problems with them over heating. i had my engine re-built after sleeve dropped in engine at about 90k. do your home work on these cars many things wrong and dodge does nothing to honor it or correct it.
