I have a 2009 Toyota corolla , it's running hot
The water pump went out ,while I was driving , the car ran hot , I changed the water
pump and belt , added more fluids and ran the car , it runs fine ,so I took it out for a ride
,it ran Hot???

a "block flush" from your mechanic...if plain water was used in a panic refill situation then NOT corrected immediatly and allowed the steel to rust and the aluminum to react ionically-electrically providing a sludge that's blockin'....was your coolant rusty?~
oh well that link's bad....but go to NAPA or your most convenient place to get this rather mundane boilerplate item...at the shop we'd always snip the rivet out so at least air and gasses can get through~

I don't own a corolla but all cooling systems should work on the same principle. u say u have a2009 model. ok. assuming the coolant has never been touched from new, it should be long life coolant anyway. if u have no other build up in the water channels, and u replaced the coolant,[it's not going to over heat with plain water] , I'd look at the thermostat. I've had them jam and then open at boiling point. easiest way to crack a head. they should be designed so they jam open, not closed. if u take the guts of it, you'll never get the engine to operating temp. try a new thermo or if that doesn't work get the whole system blown thru but make sure u take the thermo out first.
